Dogpatch (Photo Shoot)

Hello. The title of this post may be a little bit misleading, because I didn’t actually hold a shoot, these pictures I took at a photography birthday party I went to. The whole concept was to go on an “Urban Photography Hike” in a cool part of town. My friend Francesca, whose birthday party it was, chose Dogpatch, The Design District and Lower Potrero Hill.

New York // Day 3

(I ran out of time to write this yesterday)

On Day 3, we ventured to Chelsea Market for breakfast because, I had heard there were fantastic bakeries to be found and it was true. I had a scone with raspberry jam and some orange juice at Sarabeth’s. After breakfast we andered around the Chelsea Market. My favorite store was “Artists & Fleas”. This store is like an indoor flea market. I was a really cool place to look around. I got two things, a necklace ( a matte silver circle that says “I wish I lived in New York) and a tea towel (White with a printed design of a typewriter and the sentence “New York is for writers”.Image

After the Chelsea Market we wandered around. A lot. We wandered around Chelsea, The Meatpacking district and Greenwich Village. Remember when I told you guys the story about when I met Poppy Delevingne well, she recommended a very nice english restaurant that would “take me back to my roots”. I had baked beans on toast, and for all you who don’t know, baked beans in England aren’t like the ones in the US. They aren’t flavored and they are made only by Heinz. I also had Ribena, which I haven’t been able to find anywhere over here.

Then we walked down to SoHo and did a little shopping. I got a pair of shorts at Superdry for 80% off, a few hair clips at Anthropologie, a striped tee from Zara, and a pair of Happy Socks with the “Love Me” symbol on them.

Image

Then we headed to the High Line and walked the entire thing, with a lot of picture taking along the way. We then walked back to the hotel and started to look for somewhere to eat dinner. We used Opentable to book a really nice italian restaurant in the Meatpacking district where I had delicious Spaghetti with fresh tomato sauce and basil. Then we went back to the Hotel and fell asleep.

New York // Day 2

Yesterday was probably the best day of my life. Let me explain. So, we woke up at 7.45 and went to get breakfast around 9. I had amazing Brioche french toast with roasted strawberries which were extremely sweet but, very delish.

Image

After breakfast we headed for the Empire State building. We walked down there from our hotel and now I understand the “Sea of people” saying. We went all the way to the 102nd floor and i was very cool. Apart from a plane, that’s the highest I’ve ever been.

Image

Then we took the subway up to 7th Ave and we got of and walked to MoMA. Now, i’ve been to MoMA in San Francisco but, the New York MoMA is another thing entirely. Anyway, we took the escalators up to the 3rd floor to see the photography part of the museum. We strolled through a  lot of the museum, including the impressionism an some Andy Warhol-esque stuff. Then we went back to our hotel and, obviously, chilled out.

Image

Then we took a cab to The East Village to see a production, that my second cousin helped with, at La Mama. Before the show we went and got dinner at this very nice restaurant…Peels.

We then saw the show and went to The Bowery to get some food after. I nad no idea how cool The Bowery was until we got there. You walk in through these wooden framed doors with big gold stamped letters saying “B” and “H”. The lobby is very vintage feeling, with the dimmed lighting and velvet chairs. We sat in the corner, towards the window facing the eating deck outside.

I was just sitting there chatting with my other second cousin when she asks me, “Hey, belle, Is that Alexa Chung?” So, I tun my head and waiting to be seated is THE Alexa Chung. Obviously, I was beside myself. It was so cool to see her in her Chanel coat and cool puled up hair. So, while me and Liz were freaking out another group of socialites walk in. Of which included, wait for it…….Poppy Delevingne. For those of you who haven’t heard of her, she is a English Socialite who happens to be in Vogue. A lot. So, I stared at her for over twenty minutes. I loved her clothes, shoes, hair, she’s just gorgeous. Anyway, eventually our eyes met and I waved at her. She waved back at gave the universal gesture to come over. So I did. She asked what my name was and other very normal questions but, I couldn’t get over the fact I was having a conversation with Poppy Delevingne, #noregrets. After a minute I commented on her fabulous outfit which was.. a brand new Dolce & Gabbana dress with a stunning fabric design, gold sparkly Givenchy Wedges and a very laid back hairstyle that probably took thirty minutes to do. Then, I asked her if I could meet Alexa Chung and she said, “Of course” and went outside to talk to her. She came back in and gestured for me to follow her out. I went and then had a quick conversation with two of the coolest socialites EVER. They are so nice and generous to have put up with a twelve year old gawking at their clothes and telling them how gorge they look.

New York // Day 1

Hello. I’m in My New York Hotel this Morning waiting to go to the Empire state but ,while I wait I thought I would write a recap of yesterday, Let’s go.

ImageWe arrived at JFK early because our flight from SFO eft before schedule. The only downside of that is that we had to wait for our car to come get us. Once we got in the car we drove into  Midtown, which was very loud and smelly for a San Franciscan. We finally got to our hotel and chilled for a few minutes.

Image

Then we went to check out Grand Central Station. I already loved it on the outside but, the inside is incredible. I love the ceiling and the tiny openings in it making it look like the stars are shining.

Image

We then came back to the hotel to get changed for dinner and I wore a nice dress from Forever 21. Just to let you know, I don’t normally shop there but, I had somewhere to be and I needed a nice, cheap dress. The dress is a thin material that moves in the wind. It is red with navy polka-dots and it has a peter pan collar. And in case you were wondering, We went to the restaurant Casa Lever on Park Avenue and E 53rd Street. It is a delicious ‘Modern’ Italian restaurant. I had Squid Ink Pasta with Lobster and it was magnificent.

Image

Then, at about 10.30, we decided to go see Times Square at night. It was the brightest thing I have ever seen. I really liked it especially because of all the people there, the energy was amazing. Then we just wandered back to our hotel at fell asleep.

Airplane things I need.

Hello. Today I am going to be showing you my most needed airplane things. Basically my “Airplane things” are the things I put in my carry on. Lets get started!

Image

1. A nice bag.

Obviously you need something to carry everything in. My favorite larger bag right now is My Marc by Marc Jacobs ‘Quentin Mash Up Tote’

2. My iPhone

I use this to play games, Instagram at the airport, and take photos.

3. Laptop

Sometimes I write or draw while I’m on the plane and frankly, I don’t want my laptop under the plane.

4. Scarf

I always bring a scarf in my bag for 3 reasons. One, the chairs can be very itchy and it’s nice to throw a scarf over the seat. Two, sometimes the blankets are itchy. Three, I might get cold. So, I always bring a big scarf with me.

5. Headphones

I like to bring my Headphones with me so I can watch movies, listen to music and cancel the noise a little. The reason I don’t use Earbuds is because the noise always seeps through and I can never hear anything.

6. My Moleskine journal.

I like to bring this so I can sketch and journal on the plane.

7. A snack

I buy a snack once I get through security so the options are limited but, I can normally find a bar or some chips to take with me.

8. Pencils and pens

You never know when you might need them.
